NW In Defense of Animals News, Updates and Action Alerts: YOUR CALLS AND E-MAILS MADE A DIFFERENCE! After receiving numerous calls from all of you, KINK FM 102 and Nordstrom ended their Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus promotion yesterday and have stopped all Ringling radio spots! KINK also removed all links pertaining to the circus from their website.
Nordstrom will still have their Saturday event but will not keep the circus theme. Their downtown store manager, Kierston Kays, assured me they will not post Ringling signs, nor will they hand out the toys and cups provided them by Ringling. They will only hand out the free tickets to customers who specifically ask for them but will not openly hand them out as previously planned.
We want you to know that your phone calls and e-mails made a huge difference, and you have been an effective voice for the animals! After viewing video footage yesterday of circus cruelty and seeing elephants being beaten with bullhooks, I feel more determined than ever to spread the word about the animal abuse that goes on under the big top.
MORE CALLS NEEDED TO OMSI AND UPN 49!
We just found out that OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, is also partnering with the circus so we need to start calling and e-mailing them.
